He (Abraham) did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform. (Romans 4:20, 21).
The one popular interpretation of these verses is that by faith Abraham waited 25 years for Isaac to come. This then places a burden on believers to “endure” in faith and even postpone their blessing by years.
The truth is that Abraham’s patience in waiting was for one year from the time he recieved the Angelic visitor (Lord) in Genesis 18:1-15. If he had patiently waited for 25 years, what is Ishmael doing in the background? Ishmael was born out of human effort (Galatians 4:21-31), showing that faith was not at work then.
Here is my point: We dont use Abraham’s story to comfort us for delayed manifestation of the promise. Rather, to know that God’s delivery does not depend on our mistakes, but on faith. – It’s not too late to switch to faith & live there! God deals with you according to your faith, despite your mistakes.
Focusing on God’s testimonies & His promises as a done deal will boost your faith! Amen.
